Whitman was a police officer with the Tyngsborough Police Department and was the owner and principal manager of Hitman Firearms, LLC, a retail gun shop in Tyngsborough. This station is part of Cox Media Group Television. Chief Howe said Officer Whitman is on paid administrative leave from the force pending the outcome of the criminal case.
